Tesla 2021 Model 3 Registration Shows Larger 82kWh Battery

Tesla 2021 Model 3 Registration Shows Larger 82kWh BatteryTesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) recently raised the electric range of its mass market Model 3, allowing the vehicle to go 353 miles on a single charge. Now Electrek has spotted a European registration that was first seen on the tff-forum revealing that the new 2021 Model 3 comes with an 82 kilowatt-hour battery. This is an increase over the previous battery, in line with Panasonic's message of increased battery capacities. The vehicles are still using the 2170 cells, and have not yet switched to Tesla's newer 4680 cells, which were revealed on battery day. Benzinga's Take: It looks like Tesla's Model 3 range increase wasn't due strictly to efficiency improvements, but also higher-capacity cells. The vehicles should have the same number of cells, leading to the same weight, more energy capacity and more range. This should also improve charging times, as a larger battery can bring in more energy for a longer amount of time. Owners are now getting more for their money when purchasing a Tesla Model 3.Photo courtesy of Tesla.See more from Benzinga * Click here for options trades from Benzinga * GM On Hiring Spree To Speed Up EV Ambitions * Elon Musk: Tesla's First Dojo Supercomputer About 1 Year Away(C) 2020 Benzinga.com.
